Osteogenic Differentiation of Human Adipose-Derived Stem Cells on Titanium Surface with BMP-2-loaded Adhesive Nanoparticles |

Herein, we report on the surface functionalization of titanium with adhesive nanoparticles (catechol-functionalized polyaspartate-b-polyphenylalanine micelles) for controlled incorporation and the release of BMP-2. BMP-2 was loaded onto the anionic polymer nanoparticles immobilized on the Ti surface by the electrostatic interaction. The sustain release of BMP-2 could be controlled by the adjusting the feed amount of BMP-2. To determine the osseogenetic effect, cellular attachment and proliferation, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and calcium mineral deposition were assessed. The Ti-adhesive nanoparticle may find many utilities as a surface releasing system for medical devices including stents and dental implants. |
