Carbon material has been one of the useful electrode material for application in photoelectrolysis and photovoltaic cell. because of their possibility in work function control and chemical inertness. Poly(3-Octylthiophene) (P3OT) as an electron donating polymer was coated on carbon material such as carbon fiber and carbon paper through the electrochemical polymerization. The kinetic parameters in electrochemical polymerization on carbon were analyzed with the variation of electrochemical factors in polymerization such as the monomer concentration, electrolyte concentration, and applied potential. The amount of P3OT coatings formed on carbon paper and carbon fiber was proportional to the amount of added monomer and electrolyte, reaction time, applied potential, and cycle number with various exponent. Additionally, optimal condition for surface morphology control was studied in the respect of using photoactive electrodes with the aids of SEM and FTIR-ATR. |
