Polyaniline (PANi) is one of the important conducting polymers, because PANi has good electrical conductivity and environmental stability. PANi displays a good electrical conductivity upon doping with low molecular mineral acids. However, low molar mass acids could easily migrate to the surface of PANi and evaporate. Hence, the conductivity of PANi should be decreased as a function of time. As a result, polymeric dopants are necessary to replace low molar mass acids with similar doping capability and thus, the conductivity of doped PANi should remain consistent. Hyperbranched polymers (HBP) are good candidates to overcome aforementioned issue, since they have globular shape, high solubility and low viscosity. We would like to report on the electrochemical properties of PANi doped by carboxylic acid- or sulfonic acid-terminated hyperbranched poly(ether-ketone)s. The electrical performance of PANi/acid-functionalized HBP is expected to be improved compared to PANi/mineral acid. |
