Electromagnetic Properties of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes/Sendust/Polyurethane Composites in the Radio Frequency Range |

The research on power loss of electromagnetic (EM) waves is carried out by using multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs)/sendust/polyurethane (PU) composites, where the flake-shaped sendust is used. The ability of power loss in the media of composites is evaluated in terms of the permittivity and permeability calculated from the reflection and absorption of EM waves in the frequency range from 100 MHz to 1.8 GHz. Homogeneous dispersion of MWNTs in polyurethane matrix enable the electrical conductivity and the permittivity of the composite to be increased. In addition, the more the content of Sendust in the composite, the higher value of permeability can be obtained, indicating that EM absorption can be increased by adding MWNTs and sendust. The PU composite containing 2 wt.% of MWNTs and 85 wt.% of sendust lowers the electrical noise to less than FCC level in the frequency range above 300 MHz. |
