Thiol functionalized polydiacetylene was synthesized by using 11-mercapto-1-undecanol. It was studied by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and high resolution mass spectrometry (HR-mass). Self-assembled Polydiacetylenes (PDAs) with thiol functional groups were successfully chemisorbed on surface of Au substrate. PDAs on surface of Au substrate were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR), and contact angle meter. Symmetric and asymmetric methylene peaks were observed by FT-IR, accordingly this result shows that alkyl chain was formed. In addition these PDAs undergo color transition from blue to red due to environmental perturbation including temperature, pH, solvent, and mechanical stress. Their fluorescent properties were determined by fluorescence spectrophotometer. According to these results, PDAs on Au substrate would be applied electronic devices and thiol functionalized polydiacetylene binding to gold particle would be applicable to bio-sensor. |
