Polypyrrole (PPy)-poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) core-shell nanoparticles were fabricated through nanoparticle-seeded dispersion polymerization. The monodisperse PPy nanoseeds were fabricated by micelle templating, and the PVK shell thickness was controlled at nanometer-scale level by adjusting the amount of N-vinylcarbazole monomer. The PPy core and PVK shell acted as the fountain of remarkable conductivity and fluorescence, respectively. Importantly, our synthetic approach may be expanded to allow the fabrication of versatile core-shell nanoparticles through a broad selection of solvents, oxidizing agents, monomer types, and reaction temperature. |
