Ultra fine particles such as drug, polymer, and organic materials by ASES and RESS, metal oxide particle synthesis using supercritical water or alcohol, and in situ formation of nano-catalyst during SCWO have been investigated. In a series of experiments, using supercritical fluids with low critical temperature, some resultsfor formation of nano-size particles including water insoluble drug, cefpodoxime proxetil, insulin, lysozyme, BSA, trypsin, biodegradable polymers, and acetylsalicylic acid will be presented. A process of supercritical hydrothermal/solvothermal synthesis of metal oxide particles will also be presented. It is demonstrated that morphology and surface characteristics can be modified significantly by different supercritical fluid. Finally, we will report a novel method to enhance the rate of oxidation by in situ formation of nano-catalyst during supercritical water oxidation process. |
