제목 Synthesis of Well-defined Star Poly (styrene-block-peptide) by the combination of Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization and Ring Opening Living Polymerization.
초록 Sequence defined polypeptides have received much attention now a days due to it’s potential application in various scientific fields like material science and engineering, pharmaceuticals chemistry and biomedical applications etc. This new class of well-defined polystyrene-polypeptide block copolymers was successfully synthesized by the combination of ATRP of vinyl monomer followed by ROP of Glu-NCA. This novel two-step strategy allows the incorporation of polypeptides into usual synthetic polymers
Triarm styrene with bromine at the chain ends were obtained by ATRP using an “as synthesized” triarm cynurate based initiator. The bromine was successfully converted into amine and further to amido-amidate nickelacyle end groups and this resulting complexes were successfully used as macro initiators for the growth of benzyl-L-glutamate. This method allows an easy way for the preparation of a wide range of polymer-peptide architectures with control over polypeptide chain length avoiding the formation of homopolypeptide containments. Well-defined block copolymers with controllable molecular weight and low molecular weight distribution were obtained and were characterized by various analytical techniques. The self-assembling nature of the resulting block copolymers was also studied using DSC, SAXS and FT-IR. This synthetic route would provide access to a variety of well defined molecular chimera” and allow further insight to the polymerization process in the presence of multifunctional macro initiators for making potentially programmable polymer architectures.
