Synethesis and Characterization of poly(3-alkylthiophene) Polymers for Semiconducting Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes (sc-SWNTs) and Field-Effect Transistors |

Conjugated polymers have been used widely to selectively disperse semiconducting single-walled carbon nanotubes (sc-SWNTs) for organic electronics. Although the field-effect transistors (FETs) based on sorted SWNTs have shown good charge carrier mobility, still sc-SWNTs with small diameter have lower charge carrier mobility compared to ones with large diameter. As one of strategies, it believe that molecular design of conjugated polymer will provide unique interaction with the nanotubes and affect the device performances. Among the semiconducting polymers, poly(3-alkylthiophene)s possess high charge carrier mobility in field effect transistors and the polymer wrapped SWNTs were observed good selectivity in previous papers. In this study, poly(3-alkylthiophene) with long alkyl side chain, therefore, were synthesized and were used for dispersion of SWNTs for transistors in order to demonstrate the effect of alkyl chain length of polymer in separating large diameter sc-SWNTs. |
