제목 | Anionic Synthesis of Branched Polymers |
초록 | Branching of polymer alters various physical properties of material such as viscosity and melt flow property. For functional polymers, branching also integrates functionalities carried by individual polymer branches in a single macromolecule. Various architecture of macromolecules, for example, star polymer, H-shaped polymer, and Pom-Pom polymer, have been prepared by anionic polymerization combined with chain coupling and chemical modification of living anionic terminal. In the present study, branched polymers with various structures were anionically prepared, using condensing or coupling method. In condensing method, 4-(chlorodimethylsilyl)styrene was employed as a condensing agent, which has a dual functionality toward living anionic species, termination through chlorosilyl group and propagation of anionic polymerization through styrenic moiety. By controlling branching sequence and combination with monomer, convergent synthesis of dendritic polymers with multiple branching points and various branching size was successfully prepared. On the other hand, coupling method with diolefinic linking agent provides a core type star polymer and shell type star polymer depending on the location of anionic charge with high efficiency. Furthermore, a multiple star polymer with amplified number of arms was prepared by star-star coupling of core type star polymer. |
