제목 Chemical Vapor Deposition Polymerization of Poly(arylenevinylene)s in Nano Dimensions and Their Properties
초록 The chemical vapor deposition polymerization (CVDP) method was found to be very useful in the preparation of polyconjugated polymers in various shapes of nano dimensions. This presentation will review our studies on the preparation and properties of poly(ρ-phenylenevinylene), poly(2,5-thienylenevinylene), poly(dithienylenevinylene), and other polyconjugated polymers. Some of the polymers thus prepared could be readily converted to graphitic carbon products, which can find utilities in various applications.
{image1} The morphology of PPV obtained by the CVDP method revealed a very strong dependence on the surface of substrates on which the polymer was obtained: silicon (001) and (111) surface produced crystalline structure whereas the quartz surface resulted in amorphous material. Field emission efficiency of the oriented graphitic carbon nanotubes and those embedded with nano gold particles were very high: the latter’s amplication factor reached 11500, which is the record value. We also studied photoconductivities of carbon/PPV bilayer nanotubes prepared by consecutive preparation of graphitic carbon nanotubes followed by the second CVDP of PPV. FET characteristics of some of the polyconjugated polymers obtained by the CVDP method also will be discussed about.
