Oxide materials have being used for electronic devices, but they are mostly insulating and/or semiconducting. There has not been paid attention on the oxide materials with high concentration of electronic charge carriers. Recently, it has been found that perovskite structure based oxides with high charge carrier concentration can be a promising candidate for thermoelectric application, which requires high electrical conductivity and thermopower and low thermal conductivity. Considering the factors of the figure of merit, complex oxides with low symmetry and layer structure are good candidate materials for the thermoelectric application. In this paper, nonstoichiometric ferroelectric perovskite, tungsten bronze structured, and perovskite layer structured oxides are discussed in terms of the thermoelectric properties and beyond. |
