Wrapping Behavior of MWNT/PPO with Surface Modification of MWNTs |

The wrapping behavior of acid-oxidized MWNT/PPO and dispersion of MWNTs are investigated. The chemical oxidation of MWNTs is carried out under the controlled conditions of treatment time and temperature by using the mixtures of nitric/sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide/aqueous ammonia. The PPO-wrapping MWNTs is prepared by using centrifugation and precipitation which uses the solubility parameter difference between toluene and methanol. The wrapping behavior of acid-treated MWNTs changes with condition of treatment time and dispersion of MWNT oxidized by mixture of hydrogen peroxide/aqueous ammonia is better. MWNTs oxidized by mixture of hydrogen peroxide/aqueous ammonia is confirm to be homogeneously wrapped throughout the wrapping process. The defects on MWNT induced by the acid treatment have effect on dispersion of MWNT in toluene and these differences of dispersion affect on changing of wrapping behavior throughout precipitation used by difference of solubility parameter. |
