Ion-exchange membrane has been widely used for the recovery of valuable metal, water purification, medical part, and separation of protein. The ion-exchange membrane is required high mechanical property, ion-exchange capacity and low electrical resistance. A novel ion-exchange membrane based on a styrene-hydroxyethyl acrylate-lauryl methacrylate terpolymer was synthesized by solution polymerization various monomer weight ratio. The ion-exchange membranes were prepared by thermal crosslinking and sulfonation reaction. Chemical structure of membrane was investigated by FT-IR and 1H-NMR spectrometer. The membrane’s basic properties such as water uptake, ion-exchange capacity, ion transport number and electrical property were measured for the prepared ion-exchange membranes. |
