With increasing industrial effluent and frequent oceanic spillage, advanced separation application is highly demanded. Although ultrafiltration (UF) membrane is mainly used for effluent treatment with high separation efficiency, there is a limitation for flux due to its high tortuosity. Inspired by wood vessels, we fabricated micron-scale aligned channel structured sorbent for fast effluent treatment. The as-prepared sorbent was based on the delignified biomass fiber as a building block, which can be assembled as a continuously oriented structure. In addition, the hydrolyzed methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) sol was formed hydrophobic coating layer via in-situ polysiloxane growth. Benefiting from aligned channels, our sorbent showed high oil-water emulsion flux compared to high tortuous membranes. Furthermore, it is promising practical application as a continuous oil-water emulsion separation with pumping apparatus. |
