Behavior of Frit and Ag Powder within Bus Electrode During Firing of Transparent Dielectric |

Transparent dielectric such as Bi2O3, B2O3, and P2O5 glass systems have been variously studied as an lead free composition which replace an established PbO glass composition. There are, however, many problems such as bubble and yellowing phenomenon in transparent dielectric after firing. So far, the yellowing-phenomenon has been studied in terms of the compositions of dielectric. In this work, we consider a behavior of reaction between the Ag bus electrode and a lead-free transparent dielectric. The Ag bus electrode has changed its shape during firing of transparent dielectric. It is the research aim to observe the shape change of Ag electrode and to find its cause during the firing. As a result, the transparent dielectric containing the Ag bus electrode shrinks about 50% of its thickness after firing and the thickness of electrode also shrinks in the similar ratio. Shape change of electrode began in the contact surface between the Ag powder and the transparent dielectric. This presents some preliminary results for understanding a reaction between the Ag bus electrode and the lead-free transparent dielectric. |
