Over the past years, stimuli-responsive polymers and hydrogel materials have attracted great interest for field of novel drug delivery and tissue engineering due to their promising potential. Among them, thermo- and pH-responsive system has widely been investigated. Polyaspartic acid and α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl-DL-aspartamide) are biodegradable, biocompatible and the pendants can be easily modified with hydrophilic and hydrophobic moieties, and are conjugated with drug or responsive groups, etc. In this work, novel copolymers and hydrogels (chemical or physical) based on polyaspartamide derivatives containing cationic pendants were prepared to identify materials as double-responsive (temperature and pH) polymer and gels potentially useful for current biomedical applications. |
