Fabrication of micro-nano hybrid structures based on the physico-chemical treatment of liquid crystal materials |

Liquid crystal (LC) molecules are spontaneously assembled to ordered structures due to physical and chemical intermolecular interactions. Here, we used these LC materials to get very uniform hybrid nano-microstructures by surface treatments and followed physico-chemical manipulation methods. In order to get desired hybrid structures, unique dimple-like microstructures were made on the modified substrates, then these were physic-chemically modified to generate nanostructures on the surface area because LC molecules near the air-boundary are much susceptible to external stimulation we applied. These efforts enable us to propose a novel fabrication method to generate the hybrid structure in a large area. The observation performed in this research can give us some ideas to understand the interaction behavior between molecules and solvent in the air and offers a new route for potential applications such as super hydrophobic surface and optical applications. |
