Effects of Different Types of Silicaon Multiplexed Holographic Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal |

The electro-optical performance characteristics were investigated in holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystal (HPDLC) transflective gratings with the addition of silica nanoparticles and silicon polymer by using three coherent laser beams. Multiplexed holographic system provides large storage capacity. However, diffraction efficiency in the three beam region is smaller than two beam region. To increase diffraction efficiency in HPDLC various amounts of Aerosil 200 were functionalized with allyl isocyanate. Aerosil R812 and vinyltrimethoxysilane (VTMS) have also been added to the conventional polyurethane acrylate (PUA) system. It was founded that HPDLC based on polymer matrix containing silica showed high diffraction efficiency compared with conventional PUA system due to the great phase separation. Such HPDLC also showed low driving voltage which was resulted from decreased interface energy between polymer and LC by adding silica. |
