Synthesis and Application of Organic/Inorganic Materials to Improve Toughness and Heat-resistance of Epoxy Resin for VARTM to manufacturing large offshore structure |
초록 |
Research is being conducted on lightweight materials and composite materials for ships to reduce the weight of the all around the world. The VaRTM method is widely used to make large structures. The resin used in the VaRTM method must have low viscosity characteristics because the resin must be applied quickly to the laminated fibers inside the mold. In addition, it should have characteristics of salt water resistance, impact resistance, and flame retardancy suitable for the marine environment. However, the thermosetting resin applied in this study, the epoxy resin, has brittleness and is easily destroyed even by a light impact. In order to supplement this, in this study, an organic-inorganic composite material was developed to impart high toughness to the resin for RTM. Polyethersulfone (PES)@silica particles were synthesized as an additive, and the mechanical strength and thermal properties of the epoxy resin complexed with the additive were evaluated. |
