제목 Surface modification of carbon nanofibers using ferrocene for pseudocapacitor electrodes
초록 Carbon/transition metal composites are promising materials for supercapacitors since carbon provides high surface area and conductivity while transition metal enables pseudocapacitance performance. Ferrocene-attached carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were prepared for supercapacitor electrdoes. CNFs were fabricated by thermal treatment of electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN). CNFs were activated using steam to functionalize their surface, and then ferrocenecarboxaldehyde was attached through covalent bonding. Electrochemical properties were studied using three-electode cells with Ag/AgCl as a reference electrode and Pt as a counter electrode. Fe/CNFs showed high capacitance of 358 F/g and energy density of 49.7 Wh/kg at 0.5 A/g, which is significantly higher that CNFs without the surface treatment (68 F/g and 9.4 Wh/kg).
