The large-scale capture of CO2 from various mixed gases (pre-combustion gas: CO2/H2, post-combustion gas: CO2/N2, and natural gas: CO2/CH4) has become promising technology as a solution to mitigate global climate change problems. Microporous chabazite (CHA) type zeolite is effective for CO2 capture because it has pores of appropriate size for selective adsorption of CO2 molecules. Herein, CHA type zeolite particles and membranes were synthesized by seeded growth method in various condition without organic structure directing agent (OSDA). Since the resulting OSDA-free CHA type zeolite membrane does not require a high temperature calcination step, this membrane synthesis method can minimize the formation of defects formed in the membrane during the calcination step. The resulting OSDA-free CHA type zeolite membranes showed maximum CO2/N2 and CO2/CH4 separation factors of ~12.5 ± 3.8 and ~28.8 ± 6.9, respectively. |
