Since the development of porous nanoparticles, mesoporous silica nanoparticles have been studied. Among many types of mesoporus silica nanoparticles, hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles have recently drawn considerable interest. Due to their hollow cavity, they have larger inner voids, higher porosity, and lower density than mesoporous silica. To synthesis hollow mesoporous silica, hard- and soft- templating methods are employed. However, many reported methods are expensive and time-consuming. To solve the problem, we developed new approach. First, we synthesized mesoporous zinc silicate mixed oxide nanoparticles using the difference of formation rate. Then, we could get hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles by dissolving zinc oxide component. In addtion, we could directly synthesis mesoporous hollow zinc silicate particles by introducing block copolymer. Also, we enlarged the hollow cavity by dissolving zinc oxide component. Through control experiments, we suggest the formation mechanism. We believe this study not only produces fascinating particles, but also give new approach to the synthesis of hollow mesoporous silica nanoparticles. |
