제목 The Preparation and Characterization of EPR/Organo-MMT Nanocomposites
초록 In recent years, the nanocomposites by intercalating polymers into the layered clays have been greatly interested in material science. In this study, the effects of clay modification on Organo-montmorillonite/EPR nanocomposites has been studied.
Organo-montmorillonite/EPR nanocomposites were prepared by a melt intercalation process. The resultes of EPR nanocomposites were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), dynamic mechanical thermal analyzer(DMTA), universal testing machine(UTM). The XRD showed that the basal spacing in the clay increased, which means that EPR matrix intercalated to the clay layer galleries.
In TEM image, organo-montmorillonite(MMT) particles were clearly observed, having been exfoliated into nanoscale layers with about 10 – 20nm thickness from their original 40 ㎛ particle size and these layers were dispersed in EPR matrix uniformly.
The UTM test showed that the nanocomposites had a good mechanical properties(i.e. strength, modulus).
