Porous materials for CO₂ adsorption and conversion |

In this short presentation, key aspects of the recent progress made on the topic will be summarized using representative cases of their applications for CO2 capture and conversion with particular emphasis on amine-functionalized porous materials. In addition, the development of CO2 adsorbents for (i) post-combustion CO2 capture (15% CO2) and (ii) direct air capture (DAC) (400 – 2000 ppm CO2) applications and heterogeneous catalyst for CO2 conversion will be introduced. For post-combustion CO2 capture material, N-doped porous carbon was synthesized by carbonization of covalent organic polymer and explored for CO2 adsorption performance by CO2 adsorption isotherms and temperature swing adsorption test. For CO2 capture from ambient air, amine-functionalized foam was prepared using polyethylenimine cross-linked cellulose foam and examined for CO2 adsorption capacity at low CO2 concentration of 400 and 2000 ppm. Finally, for CO2 conversion, a highly stable zirconium-based metal-organic framework (Zr-MOF) functionalized with amino acid was prepared as heterogeneous catalyst for CO2 chemical fixation to cyclic carbonates. |
