제목 | Synthesis of Substituted Triaryldiamines and Their Application as Ligands for Ni(II) Ethylene Polymerization Catalysts |
초록 | The Ni(II) diimine catalysts exhibit high activities which are comparable to those of metallocene catalysts. But the sensitivity of metallocenes to polar substituents is largly responsible for an increase in interest in the late-transition metal complexes as olefin polymerization catalysts. With the same interest, we have developed a series of Ni(II) complexes bearing bulky diimine ligands, which serve as good catalysts for the polymerization of ethylene. Polymerization with these catalysts has been explored under a variety of reaction condition. The activity of the dihalide complexes with different cocatalysts has been thoroughly investigated; out of which ethyl aluminum sesquichloride showed remarkable activity even at very low concentrations in normal conditions. High activity was maintained over a wide range of cocatalyst ratio also .The effects of newly synthesized diamines on the catalytic structure were studied extensively. The polymerization with bulky substituted α-diimine ligands to polymerize ethylene yields a high molecular weight polyethylene, which vary with the microstructure of the catalyst.. Also activity decreases with increase in temperature. The polyethylene has been characterized by NMR, GPC and DSC. Fig:1 Catalyst under investigation Fig:2 Activity curve showing substituent effect |
