Biomimetic Microenvironments for Stem Cell Differentiation |

Regenerative medicine aims to restore lost tissue structure and function via engineering biological tissue equivalents. Identification of appropriate biomaterials that support cellular attachment, proliferation and, most importantly in the case of stem cells, lineage-specific differentiation is critical for tissue engineering and cellular therapy. Here, we demonstrate the fabrication of immobilized ECM array substrates to study stem cell differentiation and understand the epigenetic level regulation by topographical cues. Furthermore, ECM immobilized substrate with the nanopatterns provided directionality for mimicking musculoskeletal structure and differentiated more into myotubes. |
