제목 Stepwise activation of bistable smart windows fabricated with multi-component thermotropic hydrogels
초록 Advance solar control glazing is the most promising solution for saving energy consumption. In this study, we fabricated a stepwise solar control glazing with memory function for optical transparency achieved by grafting of multi-component copolymers with methyl cellulose (MC). The hydrogels show the nearly linear transmittance change over a wide temperature range due to the multi-component copolymers which exhibits different thermal behavior depending on monomer composition. We also found that the glazing shows the memory function for maintaining transmittances through the strong interaction between each MC chains at a shrunken state. Developed glazing shows various transparencies depending on the current, and their optical states were maintained without further electrical energy through thermal hysteresis.
