Silicon oxycarbonitride-functionalized graphene sheets/Al2O3/epoxy composite was fabricated to improve the thermal conductivity. For functionalization of the graphene sheets, polysilazane which is the polymer-derived ceramic material was applied for the process. The process was assisted by stratified oil-water two-phase system with SDBS as a dispersion stabilizer, cyclohexane as an emulsion agent and polysilazane as a source for ceramic precursor. The alkyl chain region of the SDBS that was attached on the graphene oxide (GO) induced the generation of mini-emulsion for polysilazane. Then, the polysilazane-doped GO was pyrolyzed to form the complete Si-C-O-N based ceramics functionalized reduced graphene oxide (SiCON-rGO). The synthesized SiCON-rGO was introduced as a gap filler to the Al2O3/epoxy composite. As a result, the thermal conductivity of SiCON-rGO/Al2O3/epoxy composite was highly improved due to the well dispersed gap filler between Al2O3 in the matrix. |
