In this study, we demonstrate functionalhydrogels and microfluidics for improving organoid technology. Combination oftissue-mimetic hydrogels and microfluidic devices with dynamic flow successfullyrecapitulates in vivo-like microenvironments for stem cell-derived organoids, resulting in structural and functional maturation of several types of tissueorganoids including brain, liver, intestine, and stomach. Accordingly, the organoidsgenerated with engineering platforms exhibited improved metabolic activity, drug response, and regenerative potential. The bioengineering tools includingbiomaterials and devices reported herein would be able to facilitate thedevelopment of highly effective organoid platforms for tissue engineering, disease modeling, and drug discovery.
