In order to impart recognition selectivity to nanomaterials for the detection of targets, it is essential to functionalize their interface with affinity molecules including proteins and ligands. In this talk, the unique approaches for designing an optical biosensor based on graphene oxide (GO), which is an emerging luminescent nanomaterial showing photostable photoluminescence (PL), for the selective detection of neurotransmitters or proteases will be presented. The interfacial functionalization of GO with metal ions or a peptide-quencher complex leads to its selective fluorescence response to the targets. In addition, the mechanism responsible for the selective recognition of the target biomolecules will be introduced. |
