Characteristics of polymer actuators based on sulfonated styrenic pentablock copolymer/graphene oxide/ionic liquid membranes |

In this study, sulfonated styrenic pentablock (SSPB) copolymer/graphene oxide (GO)/ionic liquid (IL) membranes were sucessfully fabricated and used as polyelectrolytes of ionic polymer-metal composite (IPMC) actuator. The SSPB copolymer was poly((t-butyl-styrene)-b-(ethylene-r-propylene)-b-(styrene-r-styrene sulfonate)-b-(ethylene-r-propylene)-b-(t-butyl-styrene)), and the IL used was 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide. IPMCs constructed with the SSPB/GO/IL membranes generated a soft bending motion with stable actuation in air, and the sulfonation of GO largely enhanced the actuation performance. |
