Carbonic anhydrase (CA), catalyzing theconversion of CO2 to bicarbonate at a rate of ~106 persecond, can be employed for various processes of CO2 conversion andutilization. Nanobiocatalysis (NBC), using nanostructured materials foreffective immobilization of various enzymes, has been successful in stabilizingthe activity of CA enzymes. The stabilization of CA enzyme in various forms ofNBCs, together with their successful employment for CO2conversion/utilization, will be presented in details. NBC of CA was alsocombined with 3D-printed floating device, and their successful application forinterfacial CO2 hydration and follow-up mineralization will be alsointroduced. It is worthy of noting that the successful applications of CAenzyme in this presentation are based on the combination of highly-active CAenzyme with nanobiocatalytic approaches, stabilizing the enzyme activity aswell as improving the enzyme loading. |
