A green approach of chitosan modified graphene/polyaniline nanocomposites modified graphene/polyaniline nanocomposites were prepared by using modified Hummer method from graphite flakes. Physical adsorption of chitosan on exfoliated graphene oxide (GO), further reduced by hydrazine hydrate and in-situ polymerized in the presence of aniline monomer. Chitosan, a biodegradable linear polysaccharide, acts as a stabilizer to cope graphene oxide not to restack after reducing to graphene. Three samples; chitosan modified graphene/PANI, graphene/PANI and PANI, were prepared and denoted as CS-G/PANI, G/PANI, PANI for convenience. The main purpose of this work is to synthesize larger surface area graphene by modification with natural polymer in order to observe and compare the improved capacitance between the samples. The morphology was checked by SEM and TEM, the structure was determined by Ramen spectroscopy, the components were studied by FT-IR, the area was measured by BET method and the electrochemical analysis such as Cyclic Voltammetry measurement, EIS, charge-discharge observation have been studied. TEM and SEM images revealed that the PANI nanoparticles were anchored on the surface of chitosan modified GO sheets. Also, the successful modification of chitosan has been confirmed by Ramen and FT-IR measurements. At this moment, the work is in progress at the stage of electrochemistry measurement parts and could affirmatively be completed at the end of March. |
