Organic-inorganic hybrid materials have gained much attention from the researchers as a strategy to novel functional materials. In the field of porous materials and membrane science, the hybrid materials are significant as to overcome the limitations of organic material and its counterpart. Organic porous material can be processed rather easily but has low permselectivity, while inorganic materials have low processibility and high permselectivity. Recently, organic sol-gel method was developed as a new synthetic procedure to obtain nanoporous organic molecular network. The main advantages of organic sol-gel method are solution processibility, functionalization, and the chemical, thermal stability. In this research, we synthesized polyurea network-inorganic composite combining the advantages of inorganic porous material and the recently introduced organic sol-gel methods. The structure and properties of the composite material were studied using several analytical methods. |
