Contamination of the environment, harmful influence on the human body with heavy metal ions have been an important concern throughout the world. The development of heavy metal ion detection techniques for quick, easy-use, and cost-effective in environmental samples has still remained as an important task. Unlike Au NPs, Au NCs with a sub-nanometer size shows molecular-like properties in photoluminescent features. In this research, we investigated the interaction between the Au NCs@GSH and various types of metal ions such as Al3+, Zn2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Ag+, Ca2+, Mn2+, Ni2+, Cr3+, Co2+, Hg2+, Cu2+, Fe3+ by monitoring photoluminescent features. By the addition of metal ions into Au NCs, four different optical behaviors like as enhancement, concordance, decreasing, and quenching in PL intensity were found. Also, we found that the changed PL intensity of Au NCs was recovered by the addition of EDTA. Consequently, The Au NCs can act as a nanosensor to detect particular metal ions in a sample. |
