Synthesis and EL Properties of Light-Emitting Polymers By Gilch Polymerization |

We have synthesized a new class of high molecular weight phenylenevinylene- and fluorenevinylene-based EL polymers by Gilch polymerization. The resulting EL polymers were completely soluble in organic solvents and had high molecular weights and high thermal stability up to 400℃. Double-layer LEDs with an ITO/PEDOT/polymer/Al configuration were fabricated using these polymers. The EL properties of these polymers were characterized by photoluminescence, electroluminescence, current density-voltage-luminescence (I-V-L) characteristics and luminance efficiency. The maximum brightness and luminance efficiency of the Oxa-PPV device were 19395 cd/m2 at 14 V and 21.1 cd/A at 5930 cd/m2 respectively. Details of the EL properties of these polymers will be discussed. |
