제목 Effect of Heat Treatment of Graphite Felt Electrode on The Performances of Aqueous Redox Flow Battery using Iron-based Metal Organic Complexes
초록 Since redox flow battery (RFB) can be used for large scale energy storage systems (ESSs) safely, one of the promising candidates for ESSs is RFB. In this study, the heat treated graphite felt (GF) electrode is evaluated for aqueous redox flow batteries (ARFBs) using Ferrocyanide and iron-3-[Bis(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]-2-hydroxy-propanesulfonic acid complex (Fe(DIPSO)) as redox couple. For the heat treatment of GF, we adjust temperature and retention time to confirm effect of treatment on the performances of ARFB. Among various conditions, heat treated GF at 600℃ for 1 h shows the best double layer capacitance (DLC) and surface area as 0.3708 F g-1 and 1.8408 m2 g-1, respectively. The redox reactivity of Ferrocyanide and Fe(DIPSO) is also enhanced, while the charge transfer resistance is reduced by improvement of DLC and surface area. In heat treated GF single cell test using Ferrocyanide and Fe(DIPSO), its energy efficiency increases from 56 to 63 % at a high current density of 200 mA cm-2 and its maximum power density is 14 % higher than that of pristine GF.
