With the rapid development of organic light emission diodes (OLEDs) as next-generation display/lighting devices, OLED encapsulants have emerged as one of most important components due to the sensitivity of OLED materials to moisture and oxygen. Here, we demonstrate face seal type OLED encapsulants that have better features than conventional encapsulants to dramatically increase the life span of OLED devices. The design of effective barrier adhesive film (BAF) as OLED encapsulants is based on consideration of diffusion of water vapor in polymer matrix embedded with water-reactive inorganic particles as getters. This study could provide practical guidelines to develop the advanced BAF such as transparent OLED encapsulants. |
