Annually, 70 million tons of elemental sulfur is produced by desulfurization from fossil fuel and consumed to make tire and sulfuric acid, but the amount of consumption was extremely small. In this study, we developed the synthesis of sulfur-rich polymer networks via catalytic inverse vulcanization synthesized via a new type of basic catalysts. It can polymerization at low temperature, 110 ℃. Furthermore, the reaction rate of it is faster either than without catalyst or metal diethyldithiocarbamate catalyst, and when the polymerization, produced toxic gas is less either than without catalyst or metal diethyldithiocarbamate catalyst. It can simply be processable to thin film by hot pressing, and reprocessable. In addition, a new type of basic catalyst is able to extract from sulfur-rich polymer, because it is soluble in water. Extracted catalyst is reusable, and also washed and dried sulfur-rich polymer is processable and reprocessable via hot pressing. |
