In this research, silica-hematite nanocomposites were fabricated by a facile synthesis method using surfactant. To form the shell structure of hematite on the surface of silica, iron(II) chloride solution containing CTAB and tert-butanol as a surfactant and a cosurfactant was added into the prepared silica colloid. Iron salt and CTAB concentrations were main factors to achieve the controlled morphology of composites having shell-coated sphere or grafted type. In addition, the calcination of products was performed at 800°C in order to form the crystal structure of hematite immobilized on the silica surface. The obtained particles were characterized by using TEM, XRD, BET, and XPS. |
