Enantioselective Chemical Sensing Using Chiral Functionalized Graphene-based Sensor Device |

Discrimination of enantiomeric chemical compound is one of the most important goals in chemical and biological fields because of the different properties of enantiomers originate from their different chirality. Here, we report the development of graphene-based chemical sensor functionalized with chiral functionalized pyrene. Chiral functionalized pyrene molecule itself showed different photoluminescence signal intensity for addition of different β-citronellol enantiomers. Graphene transistor-based sensor was fabricated using simple solution deposition of chiral functionalized pyrene with the strong π-π interaction between graphene and pyrene. Developed enantioselective chemical sensor successfully discriminated enantiomer of β-citronellol, in vapor phase sensing. Our results represent a significant step towards the improvement of chiral electronics field. |
