Several activated carbon (AC) based adsorbents were studied to develop a more efficient adsorbent to for removal of mercaptanes and sulfides from FCC C4 in refinery process. The adsorbents were prepared by impregnating AC with CuCl and PdCl2. Each adsorbent was characterized by N2 adsorption, elemental analysis (EA) and XRF. The experimental adsorption isotherms were compared with Langmuir and Freundlich models. The sulfur removal performance of the prepared adsorbents was tested through the breakthrough experiment. The sulfur adsorption capacities of adsorbents for the impregnated AC were decreased in order of PdCl2, CuCl and non-impregnated AC, respectively. The saturated adsorbents can be regenerated by a toluene treatment and reactivated at 130 ℃ in a vacuum condition. |
