Based on the fundamental knowledge on the self-assembly of peptide, many biomimetic molecules have been developed recently. These biomimetic molecules have been explored for the scientific study and engineering applications. In this study, we present the application of a biomimetic molecule for the synthesis of various inorganic and polymeric nanomaterials. An artificial peptide-associated bolaamphiphile molecule of bis(N-α-amido-glycylglycine)-1,7-heptane dicarboxylate was developed and self-assembled to form tubular or ring-shaped structure. These self-assembled structures were used for the one-step biomimetic synthesis of nanoparticles at room temperature by the biological catalytic activity and controlled assembly of polymeric materials. This multifunctional biomimetic molecule assembly could be applied for syntheses of a variety of nanomaterials. |
