제목 Kinetics of transesterification of animal fat to biodiesel fuel in supercritical alcohols
초록 Biodiesel has long been explored as the encouraging alternative to fossil fuel based diesel. Recent researches have associated animal fat as an emerging alternative for the same.  The research studies the transesterification of pig fat at supercritical ethanol and methanol and the conversion trends of pig fat to biodiesel at temperature of 2200C to 2900C at an interval of 100C. Considering the difficulty to determine the molar weight of pig fat, the research was carried out on three different pig fats to alcohol weight ratio of 1:1.5, 1:2 and 1:2.5 respectively. The reaction at supercritical ethanol and methanol showed around 99% of conversion at 2900C with all weight ratios. The conversion trends of each reaction product were more or less in sync with the expected theoretical increase with increasing temperature and weight ratio. A kinetic model of transesterification of pig fats to biodiesel was also developed during this research.
