제목 Scale up for the direct transformation of cellulose into 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furfural using a combination of metal chloridesin imidazolium ionic liquid
초록 The compound 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furfural (HMF) is an intermediate for the production of biofuels from carbohydrate biomass through chemical catalytic methods. To gain insight on the influence of the gram scale up of this reaction, direct transformation of cellulose into HMF was carried out for 0.5, 2.5 and 5 g of cellulose using a combination of metal chlorides 8 mol % of CrCl2 and 2 mol % of RuCl3 to cellulose- in ionic liquid [EMIM]Cl at 120ºC. Time course experiments were performed to determinate the time of reaction that presents the highest yield for the conversion of 5 g of cellulose to HMF. For this scale up, the influence of the amount of catalysts was also checked. A liquid-liquid extraction was done with the objective of isolate HMF from the resulting reaction mixture.
