RTM has merits in that it demands only simple manufacturing facilities and can produce a complex and large structure in a short cycle time. However, there is some disadvantage that voids are formed in the composite by gas did not escape through the vent. Therefore, the desired properties were not obtained. In this study, specimens were manufactured using three different types of glass fiber and Bisphenol A type epoxy resin by the VARTM (Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Moulding) process. Tensile and flexural strength of the prepared three kinds of specimens were measured. After the experiment, microscope observation was done to compare the changes in the cutting plane. It also was able to measure the density inside voids of the specimen. From array of glass fiber, permeability and interfacial properties was changed and improved. |
