The vanadium redox flow battery (VRB) has been considered to be a promising candidate for large-scale energy storage due to its advantages such as long cycle life, flexible design, short response time, deep-discharge capability, and low pollution emissions. We present a novel material for a hydrocarbon-based electrolyte membrane, which shows higher performance than Nafion 115. Sulfonated poly(p-phenylene) based multi-block copolymers were synthesized by Ni(0)-catalyzed coupling polymerization for vanadium redox flow battery application. |
