In this study, using three dimensionally ordered macroporous (3DOM) CuO and Al nanoparticles (NPs) we established the uniform dispersion thermite system. Elemental mapping images identified that Al and Cu of 3DOM thermite composites are well dispersed all over the structure. Pressurization rate shows volcano type curve as pore diameter increase. We identified this phenomenon is originated from change of combustion mechanism varying with the pore size. After combustion, different aspects of remaining products show that thermite reaction is influenced by condensed and gaseous phase oxygen diffusion. It was found that for improving the thermite performance, it is important to reduce the oxide dimension to the length scale where the gasoues oxygen molecules are depleted. |
