제목 Preparation of silver-coated silica micro beads and investigation of their antibacterial activity
초록 Silver nanoparticle coated silica micro beads (Ag-NPB) were successfully prepared by using sodium silicate, a cheap precursor, involving chemical reductive method. First, silica gel was synthesized and crushed to micro beads which have size ca. 500-1000 micrometer. Silica micro beads are then modified with 3-Aminopropyltriethoxysilane to graft amino functional groups onto their surface. Silver ions are loaded onto surface of modified silica and the final product was characterized using BET, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, and microscopic images. Ag-NPB samples were tested for their antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli (E. coli) and found to have an excellent antibacterial performance.
